Eternal Night Mud

W elcome! There have been many muds that I have explored over the years, but EN seems to be the one I come back too - even after a few months of non-patronage :)

Scarlett is my main character, I have a few others floating around, but I tend to get a little daunted over how long it takes to train - specially when I am more interested in talking to people :) I've had Scarlett since early 1998, and she pretty much slid into the role of flirt and tease. Lately however, I've gotten more serious about training and she finally made Werewolf in November last year. *cheers* But like I say in my description, I am still very much the cute fluffy puppy - but I can bite :)

It's the bite that's gotten me into trouble a couple of times - mostly when I express opinions. Usually those being about bad language. Hey, don't get me wrong, I can and do swear like a trooper, but continual repetative swearing smacks of lack of imagination to me, and I personally find gender specific curses offensive, but I guess there is nothing I can do - so I might as well shut up about it.

I have a little advice for players, and of course newbies to EN : Treat the place like it's a game, because that what it is. Eternal Night is a PK mud and there isn't really any point in getting snotty when someone comes along and caps you. Just causes you stress. Being capped is the point of the game once you train avatar. If someone does cap you, get over it, train and damn well cap em back when you can. Don't bitch about it to the Imms and don't get stronger players to mort them for you. Attack yourself and get the cap clean. This prolly won't endear me to many - but as this is my homepage, I am allowed my opinion.

Advice for Newbies...

As soon as you have enough xp points, claim all your equipment. You only get one Newbie pack and it only lasts 100 hours of mud time.

Don't listen to people telling you to train avatar until you reach and exceed the minimum requirements - you'll be a defenseless target before that.

Good areas to train in are Shire, Elemental Canyon and Ultima, they are easy to find - just explore - or ask someone, you'll find most people willing to help.

Good initial spells to get are heal, repair, soulblade, berserk, mend, clot, kick and portal. There are a few others, but I can't remember them off hand.

Some have found that removing your armour and attacking the Acolyte of Frag is a good way to stance train -though you do die a lot - that's where having claimed all your equipment comes in useful.

Don't complain or whine - that's one sure way to get a lot of people upset with you.

If you choose to become a Werewolf, I guess it's up to you how you act. Myself, I play my werewolf, by the rules set down in the roleplaying game by White Wolf. This means I play by Garou law, i.e. I don't attack or cap another werewolf. There is an exeption to this however - if I am attacked by a Ronin wolf then it's every man for himself and Garou law is placed aside in that incident. I don't expect other wolves to play the same way, but I have found that most play with honour and respect for others.

EN is a fun place, just don't make it personal and you'll have a blast!
